The top 4 diet lies

Posted by: author1    in General, Health and Fitness

When you decide to go on a weight loss diet you expect to get help and support to do well. I have been dieting all my adult life and having finally succeeded this year I now know that most of the diet schemes and gurus are telling lies. I have listed the top four diet lies below.

Weight loss lie 1. You will not be hungry on this diet.

You so want to believe this when you start on a diet because you know you will be hungry. Overeating is why you are overweight and by eating less you send a message to your body that you are not eating as much? I have followed over 20 diets in the last 30 years and they are all wrong - you will be hungry on any diet. You will not be stuffing your stomach with food all day like you normally do so it means you will be hungry.

Weight loss lie 2. You need to focus and concentrate to succeed on any diet.

no diet is ever that easy to work through. The strict dieting requires iron willpower and complete commitment. You will find you have to fight and struggle to lose weight. It will not be easy.

Weight loss lie 3. You can eat what you like and no one will know you are on a diet.

You most definitely cannot eat what you like. That's you have a weight problem now. You will not be eating all your favourite foods while you are on the diet. You will be eating things you are not used to and may not enjoy very much. But by doing this you will lose weight

Weight loss lie 4. You will find it easy to keep the weight off when you finish.

You will find it very difficult to keep the weight off and will have to plan your strategy for keeping slim at the end of your diet. It will not just happen.

I hope this dose of reality doesn’t make you too miserable about your diet. My intention is to help you lose weight. I have done this and I know it is possible for you.

7 Skincare Tips To Healthy Skin

Posted by: author1    in Health and Fitness, Skin Care

If you want to look great, you need to have healthy skin. Adequate skincare is important in enhancing our beauty. As long as you take note of these tips to great skin, you do not need to spend a lot of money to see results.

– Determine your skin type. It can be normal, dry, oily, combination or sensitive. What may be good for your friend may not suits you because all of us have different skin types. Different skincare products will cater to people with different skin type. You can find out by looking at the labels.

– Cleanse your face at least one to two times a day. Dirt and other particles on your face will be removed. Just to see how dirty the air is, try this little experiment by using makeup remover on your face without makeup. You will realise that the cotton pad is extremely dirty after that. Wash your face with lukewarm water and definitely not hot or cold water.

– Reduce your level of stress. If you do not handle stress well, it will damages your skin or you may see an outbreak of acne. Take a break, go for a spa or just take a dip in the Jacuzzi to relax. This will definitely help to make your skin look better.

– Be gentle on your skin and do not use too much strength when you scrub or exfoliate.

– Keep your skin moist. Your skin may crack easily if you live in places where the humidity level is low. Wrinkles may appear. It may look rough and unattractive. To prevent this, use moisturisers. When your skin is still damp after washing, apply the product to your skin so that it can work well.

– Never use soap on your face. Use proper cleansing foam or gel for your face, and use soap or shower foam from the neck and below.

– Use sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun’s UV rays. You may use them on your face and your body. Wearing long-sleeved tops can help protect your skin as well. UV rays are present even if the sun is not out, so remember to follow this tip even when it is cloudy.

Seeing results should not take too long if you make small changes to get healthy skin. For more ways to improve your skin, check out these tips to healthy skin.

With proper management, the diabetic can successfully compete and excel in almost any sport he or she chooses, and in fact, physical activity can be good for keeping weight in check and overall health levels at good ones. Some of the sporting world’s most celebrated athletes have been diabetics. Arthur Ashe, Ty Cobb, and Joe Frazier are just three famous sports people. However, athletes with diabetes must make their coaches and other relevant personnel aware of their health status.

Athletes with diabetes compete in a wide variety of sports, including marathons, cycling, and football. What these athletes do, as should any person with diabetes wanting to compete in sports or exercise, is take responsibility for their disease. Taking responsibility means doing the following:

  • Testing your blood sugar before you start playing and right after you stop
  • Test every half hour while playing if the activity is intense
  • If your blood sugar levels are too high, avoid playing until you have lowered them through medication
  • Do not play immediately after eating.  A one-hour delay is advisable in most cases
  • Wear proper-fitting shoes as diabetics tend to have poor circulation

The diabetic athlete needs to form a partnership with their doctor, trainers, and others that directly impact their activities. Coaches and first aid personnel need to know the symptoms of complications that can affect a diabetic athlete, such as hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia. Believing that an emergency situation will never happen is irresponsible and can place others in a frightening situation while making them powerless to help you or control the problem.

There are number of must-dos for the athlete with diabetes, which include wearing a medical bracelet and joining support groups for encouragement and motivation. The diabetic athlete must also be aware of his or her body’s responses to changes in sugar and insulin levels. Knowing these changes will alert them that they need to take medication or rest, as the case may be.
